Bulletin: DOE Issues Brunswick School Grades

The Maine DOE has issued the grades it is assigning to Brunswick Schools for school year 2011-2012.

Here they are:

Harriet Beecher Stowe Elementary:  HBS receives a C, with a points total of 246 out of a possible total of 400.

Brunswick Jr. High School:  BJHS receives a B, with 285.5 points out of a possible total of 400.

Brunswick HIgh School:   BHS receives a B, scoring 336.7 points out of a maximum possible 500.

Coffin School is not rated, because it is a K-2 school, and the grading is only being applied to schools with Grade 3 and higher.

All we can say is you better stand by for budget “incoming.”  The textbook school establishment response to these scores will be to shout they demonstrate how underfunding over the years has penalized the children, and that crisis stage has been reached.  The only possible solution is spending more….lots more.

Brunswick Community Unionists (BCU) is probably preparing their new script as we type, and may even be calling for redesign of their signs for this year.

As soon as we hear what the MEA has to say about all of this, we’ll let you know.
